Overview
Our work centers on supporting programs and initiatives that are designed to benefit communities, families and children. We provide support through an integrated system of grantmaking, programs, technical assistance, education, and advocacy.
Children face new challenges and opportunities at every critical stage in life. Our blend of resources are designed to support children and their families in the following areas:
Early Childhood Care and Education: We help develop and promote comprehensive policies that support families and promote the healthy growth and development (physical, social, emotional, cognitive) of children ages birth to five through access to quality early childhood programs and services.
Prevention of Child Abuse: We actively work with Nebraska's Statewide Child Abuse Prevention Partnership to support a unified prevention system throughout the state.
Prevention of Entry into the Child Welfare System: We analyze data to determine areas of the state with the highest rates of families entering the child welfare system. We then work with local neighborhoods and communities to develop strategies to prevent families from entering the system.
Promoting School Success/Prevention of Truancy: We support the development of school-based and school-linked services that are aimed at increasing academic achievement and promoting healthy growth and development. Our primary goals are to increase parental involvement in their children's school program. And to work with state and local partners to develop and implement a statewide truancy prevention plan.
Transitioning to Adulthood: We develop and advocate for public policies and services that enable youth to become successful and productive adults. We encourage collaboration among state and local agencies to increase opportunities for positive youth development in local communities and neighborhoods. This includes providing a voice to youth in policy decisions that affect their lives.
